Aesthetic and medical pedicure
Medical pedicure, aesthetic pedicure, i.e. pedicure as a whole - its importance is best reflected in the data that the feet are the part of the body that carries the greatest load throughout the day.
According to research, the average person takes between 5000 and 7000 steps per day. If we multiply the steps by the body mass of an average person, we would see that our feet carry a load of as much as 420 tons per day.

MEDICAL PEDICURE
Most frequent cases

What is nail plate dystrophy?
Nail plate dystrophy is most often caused by damaging the nail plate, or otherwise said the nail matrix. This disease of the nail plate can most often be interpreted as a fungal disease (onychomycosis) however, this does not have to be the case. The good news is that this kind of nail complication can be solved and cured in most cases. The first step towards healing and the beginning of therapy is mechanical abrasion, which we apply in our center. In a very quick and painless way, through mechanical abrasion, we remove all the dystrophic layers of the nail, reaching the healthy surface, which is subsequently cared for and treated until the nail is fully restored.

What are septic blisters?
The most specific thing about septic blisters is that in 90% of cases, they are inflamed and accompanied by a purulent abscess. Capillaries under the hard layer of the skin burst due to constant pressure, creating hematomas accompanied by pain. They keep coming back because they are caused by a deformity of the toe called "hammer toe".

What is an ingrown nail?
An ingrown nail is a very common problem nowadays. In this process, the lateral edge cuts through and digs into the surrounding tissue, followed by a bacterial infection, which additionally is responsible for further complications such as a purulent abscess, formation of granulomas, and similar. The technical name for a bacteriological infection of the nail and the surrounding tissue is Paronychia. There are various methods for repairing an ingrown nail, however, most often the nail must undergo surgical removal of the part of the nail plate that is causing the problem. After healing the infection, the nail needs 5-9 months to be restored from beginning to end, that is why Miki Nail Care recommends regular visits and check-ups during that period, which are done once a month to prevent a recurrence of the problem in the critical part of the restoration.

What are calluses between the toes?
Calluses between the toes, i.e. soft calluses (heloma molle) are very inconvenient and painful thickenings that occur due to a combination of pressure factors and increased perspiration (sweating) of the feet where constant moisture softens the skin between the toes. Softening the skin and the wet surface, calluses harm the skin resistance, which is why specific layers of keratosis with a whitish color and a rubbery structure are formed. With adequate treatment and a few tips on preventive care, these calluses can be resolved permanently.

What Hard Callus is?
Hard callus (Helloma Durum) is most often found above the bony part of the little finger, while it can also be on other fingers. This kind of blister is recognized mostly by its darker color, thickening and hard keratosis deposits. It is caused by strong pressure or friction inside the shoe and can be very painful. Removal of this kind of blister is often painless.
Aesthetic thumb prosthesis
Aesthetic prosthesis represents molding and adding acrylic to all existing defects on the thumbnail. Deficiencies, i.e. atrophy of the nail plate, most often occur as a result of physical or chemical trauma which causes the structure loss of the nail, its integrity, shape, etc… All these acquired anomalies can be mended with a professional approach and preparation, and the acrylic will restore your nails to their old shine and former shape without a visible difference. We would like to remind you that this technique is not used for the treatment of fungal infections and that we advise that such interventions are performed exclusively in the summer period when the season of open footwear is in effect. Keep in mind that this material, however clinically tested and not harmful to the skin, is still not natural and should not be abused at all costs. The health and proper care of what nature has given us is still the utmost priority.
Medical prosthesis
In this case, we use acrylic for similar purposes, but in completely different situations.
Namely, the medical acrylic prosthesis is used in the post-operative phase of the nail plate.
Paronychia is a bacteriological infection that occurs as a result of the ingrowth of the nail into the soft tissue. The most common solution for such a problem is partial removal of the nail in the area where the infection is caused. After the infection has been successfully remedied, the nail after a short period of stagnation begins to regenerate again in the part where it was previously removed. In certain cases, after 2-3 months, the nail comes to the same position and length that it was in when the infection occurred and starts to create the same problem.
To prevent such a scenario, we form and apply an acrylic prosthesis in the nail bed imitating and replacing the already removed part. This type of therapy lasts from 5 to 7 months, i.e. exactly as long as it takes to completely restore the removed part of the nail. The acrylic prosthesis grows together with the nail plate and can be shortened, supplemented, or reshaped if needed.

What is the difference between an aesthetic pedicure and a medical pedicure?
The difference between an aesthetic pedicure and a medical pedicure lies in the treatment specifics, target audience, and the techniques and products used. Both types of pedicures involve foot care, but they serve different purposes and delve into varying depths of treatment.
An aesthetic pedicure focuses on enhancing the appearance of the feet and nails. Its primary goal is beautification and maintenance, which includes removing dead skin cells, shaping the nails, and applying nail polish.
When is it recommended?
An aesthetic pedicure is ideal for individuals looking to improve the appearance of their feet, especially during the summer months when open-toed shoes are common. It is also excellent for maintaining healthy nails and skin in daily life.On the other hand, a medical pedicure emphasizes the health of the feet. It involves a specialized approach to address specific foot and nail issues, such as ingrown nails, corns, calluses, thickened skin, fungal infections, nail dystrophies, or irregularities in nail structure.
When is it recommended?
Medical pedicures are recommended for individuals experiencing health complications in their feet or those who encounter discomfort or pain during daily activities. It is also suitable for individuals with specific health issues, such as diabetes, neuropathy, and other chronic conditions. Medical pedicures provide specialized care and ensure safe, careful treatment for the feet.Do you offer manicures/pedicures for men?
Absolutely! Our center offers manicure and pedicure services for men as well. We understand that hand and foot care is important for everyone, regardless of gender. Our services include classic manicures and pedicures, along with medical treatments that are tailored for men.
If you prefer, we can also perform treatments with neutral or no polish. Our technicians are trained to provide discreet and comfortable services in a pleasant environment, ensuring that you feel relaxed and refreshed.
How often do I need to come for pedicure/manicure treatments?
It’s important to monitor the condition of your hands and feet for all treatments. Manicure services typically need to be repeated every 2 to 3 weeks, as nails grow and cuticles reform. Keeping your nails and cuticles in good condition is essential. For gel nails, you can expect to wait about 4 weeks before needing a touch-up.
Pedicures generally need to be done every 3 to 5 weeks, but the frequency can vary based on daily activities and external factors.
Do you do toenail prosthetics at the salon?
In our salon, we offer a nail prosthetics service, specializing in creating prosthetics for thumbnails using the acrylic technique. Acrylic is a highly reliable material that was first developed for dental use and has since become popular in manicures and pedicures due to its strength and versatility.
Over a decade ago, we developed a unique method for creating nail plate prosthetics for the feet, which has proven to be extremely effective.
Acrylic is easy to apply, bonds quickly to the nail, and provides a stable base for the prostheses. Its neutral pigment allows the prosthesis to blend seamlessly, making any damage to the nail plate nearly invisible.
There are two primary approaches to creating nail plate prosthetics: aesthetic and medical. The aesthetic approach focuses on restoring the natural appearance of the nail, while the medical approach serves a functional purpose, protecting damaged nails and facilitating their regrowth. For more information about nail prosthetics, please visit our website.
What should I do if I have an allergy to certain products?
If you have allergies to any products, please inform us before we begin the treatment. We can perform a sensitivity test on a small area of the nail plate to ensure your safety.
If we determine that certain products are not safe for you, we will recommend an alternative treatment to avoid any unwanted reactions. Our goal is to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience while prioritizing your health.
